We have a fee of $25 a credit. They pay before they take the test and can take it any time in the semester, however they cannot challenge a class they have previously failed.
We use P/NP for CLEP.

We have a flat fee of $30.00 per credit; the challenge exam can be taken any time during the semester. They do pay before they take the exam and the letter grade is recorded at the end of the term. Clep is graded P/F.

This question always gives me pause when responding to a larger audience. J
· The method you describe for Tech is policy for our 2 year City College campus.
· On the University campus, we do have a mix and the other method (testing ahead of time) is one of those. We work with students to ensure departmental challenge credits fall in the flat spot – occasionally this doesn’t work, but most of the time it does.
· CLEP is P/NP here – no letter grades

Hi Everyone! I hope that you had a lovely 4th!
Can you tell me how your campus handles challenges? Tech enrolls students in the class and they pay tuition for those credits. Then they take the challenge exam. If they pass, they get the credit and a grade for the class and don’t have to attend the rest of the semester. If they fail, the remain in the class. It came to my attention that most of the other campuses conduct challenge exams before classes start and students are charged only a small fee. Is this correct?
Also, do you assign grades for CLEP exams and if so, what formula do you use?
