Good afternoon –
At MSU Billings, we created the attached MUS Core Worksheet so advisors may utilize it when evaluating general education courses for MUS Core. This is our most effective tool, that we have used, to determine if MUS Core is complete or if a student is eligible to pursue the MUS Core option when they transfer here.
When evaluating courses using the attached worksheet, we reference the Approved MUS Core Course Guide to determine which courses fulfill which core requirements (http://mus.edu/TRANSFER/MUSCOREBYCAMPUS.ASP). Once we complete our evaluation, we update SHATCMT in Banner to indicate whether the student is choosing the MUS Core option or if they are coming in with the MUS Core Complete.

Subject: Noting MUS General Education Core Requirements
We've had an advising/transfer evaluation question come up recently regarding MUS general education core in BOR policy 301.10
Does any MUS system college/university mark on their transcripts if a student has met the MUS general education core? If so where do you post it on the transcript and how is it noted (i.e. MUS GE Core met)?
For students that are transferring into your institutions, how do your advisers/evaluators determining if the MUS GE core has been met?
Thanks for any information you can provide. I appreciate it. We are trying to confirm if there is a best practice for this area.
