At FVCC non-degree students do not need to see an advisor or take the COMPASS test unless they are enrolling in writing or math courses. If they have attended other colleges they can provide an advisor with an unofficial copy of their college transcript to determine if they’ve met a pre-req or other requirement. They need to attend a new student orientation only if they want to register prior to general registration. They are not limited to a certain number of credits, they are notified that they are not eligible for financial aid in the non-degree status.

Subject: Non-degree Students
Good afternoon,
We are having some conversations on campus about non-degree students and what their requirements are concerning registration. I would like to get a sense of what other people are doing. Does anybody require non-degree students to meet with an advisor before registering or attend orientation?
Thanks,
