Re: Requiring Cell Phone for Emergency Notifications

I could be incorrect, but I believe we have an Opt in system.  At the beginning of each semester a reminder is sent out to the entire population (faculty, staff, or students) to either opt in or update their information if it has changed.  Once you opt in, you are in the system unless you choose to opt out.  We can list up to three forms of contact in the opt in, email, alternative phone numbers, and cell/text.

Subject: Requiring Cell Phone for Emergency Notifications

Hi all –

Anyone have experience to share related to requiring students to provide cell phone numbers for emergency notification?  Basically, an opt out, instead of an opt in ?

Thanks.
