Re: Accepting Charges

Question since a problem I'm dealing with is a branch off this conversation.  If a student pays in person where do you go to manually changing them to "paid"?

Currently, FVCC does not automatically drop students for nonpayment.   When students register through the Student Portal they have to click "Accept" to the terms listed below before they can proceed to register or make a schedule change.   If they register in person, there is a similar statement on our paper registration form they are required to sign.

 

 

Seems like we still have a few students each semester request to have their charges removed.  Those students must file an appeal to the Business Office and a decision is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Yes, the job we run just cleans out all of their charges and classes. It does not feel fair for those that do what they are supposed to do, but that is the way it works right now. We drop most the before classes start which feels more fair then the ones that are dropped after the 15th day.

Hi Virginia,

 

We drop our students from classes if they do not accept the charges. We have a deadline before the semester starts and then again on the 15th day. We run a cancellation job that just cleans out their registration account. They do accept their charges in the Banner self-service.

DCC currently does not have an automated process for students to accept charges. Some students do not accept before the census date and therefore do not count in our student numbers to OCHE. I am being told by my administration that they "legally" the student cannot be charged if they do not accept their charges. Is there something that can be set up in Banner to force students to accept charges when they register for classes?
