MACRAO Spring Elections-Consider being part of your leadership team!

HI MACRAO membership!

 

Just as a reminder at our Spring business meeting (occurs at the end of the MACRAO meeting this Thursday and Friday) we will need to elect a new Vice President, Treasurer, and potentially a Technology Officer (if the bylaw changes are approved). The President-Elect and Technology Officer are a three-year term which starts July 2017.  The Treasurer is a one-year term and also begins July 2017.  For those who are interested in the details, I’ve attached the MACRAO bylaws and Article IV and V discuss the roles of MACRAO leadership.  However as a general summary responsibilities include:

 

Vice President

·       During the first year, they serve as Vice President and help plan and organize the meeting. 

·       In the second year, they serve as President and run the Fall/Spring meetings as well as respond to issues/questions effecting MACRAO as a whole; serving on and/or leading workgroups as needed to address MACRAO issues.  They (or there designee) may represent the MACRAO group at an annual regional or national conferences they attend (see bylaws for more specifics)

·       In the third year, the position transitions to Immediate Past President who serves as an advisor to the MACRAO leadership team.

 

Treasurer

·       Collects membership dues and maintains the listing of paid-up members with their contact for the Annual Membership Directory for the Association records

·       With the approval of the President, pays bills and reimbursements associated with the costs of MACRAO

·       Makes an informal report to the membership at Spring meeting regarding the state of the finances and at the end of each fiscal year completes a formal reports to the MACRAO leadership team and submission to the next Secretary/Treasurer

·       Maintain minutes of the twice yearly meetings

 

Technology Officer (if amended to Bylaws at Spring meeting

·       Maintains the MACRAO website

·       Prepares web registration for MACRAO meetings

·       Assist the Treasurer with posting meeting minutes and updates to the bylaws to the MACRAO website;

·       Provides technical knowledge, research, and support to MACRAO proposals and initiatives.

 

 

As of July 1, 2017 your 2017-18 MACRAO Leadership Team will be

President: Kandi Gresswell

Past-President: TBD (discussion at MACRAO business meeting)

Treasurer: To be elected

 

Make sure to consider nominations as we get ready for our spring elections (and yes you can nominate yourself!)  We will call for nominations and an election during the business portion of the spring meeting.
