Subject: Posthumous Degrees at ceremonies
As awarding a posthumous degree during ceremonies is relatively new to me I hoping you all can help me with some best practices related to three questions in the actual ceremony.
1. What type of language is on the diploma presented? i.e. does it say anywhere posthumous or do you print it as a standard diploma? Yes the diploma says awarded Post Humously
2. Have you marked it in the program with a special designation? In the program we place their name at the end with “Posthoumous Degree: name of student”
3. For those smaller campuses, have you notified the participating graduates so they are not caught off guard when they hear the students name announced? i.e. student was very known on campus….we are trying to balance between honoring the parents request and at the same time not make it a mournful day for the graduates that are there is celebrate. We have not notified, most of the students in the department have been made aware that the parents will be there accepting the diploma. The President has some very nice words she says.
Thanks for your insight. Always appreciated.

Re: Showing "Full" or "Closed" on the class schedule
This is housed in SOATERM under Schedule Search Controls. Mark ‘display closed section’ this will show the class as closed on the MyInfo schedule.
Hope that helps!

I believe that anytime a class reaches capacity or has a cap set to zero, the CLOSED message will appear. We use Banner 8.

To give a better idea of what I’m looking for here is a print screen from MSU Bozeman’s website where the word “Closed” is appearing above the courses that are full. I believe they are on XE, but I’m curious if this same capability is available for Banner 8?
Closed classes will appear on the schedule if you check the box under SOATERM, but that doesn’t cause the word “closed” to show up with them on the online schedule. I’m curious to figure out the trick to get that word to show up on the online class schedule.

Hi all!
This email question relates to the Banner online course scheduling system
I’m trying to figure out how to set up our online class schedule so that the word “Full” or Closed” appears on the schedule when the class has reached its seat limits. I see that a few of you have this functionality and would appreciate your insight regarding how to set it up? Is it a Banner 9/XE function or can it be done in Banner 8?
Thanks for any insight you may have.
It’s appreciated!

Re: Showing "Full" or "Closed" on the class schedule
Good Morning Charity,
From what I have seen, when you don’t apply a waitlist and cap the enrollment to 20. Once the class reaches 20 the class lists closed.
I know right now I am listing classes with “0” enrollment, “0” waitlist. Because another concern is ensuring the room is marked as in use.
Hope this helps and if you don’t mind posting more scheduling issues/conflicts/questions and answers that would be great.
