This is an informal request to gather information: what do registrars think would be good policy for common course numbering? (Or, where is CCN messing up current practices?) It’s very broad, but I really want to get a good basis of the depth and breadth of the actual or potential problems associated with CCN. Obviously, I will also ask the same question of the academics. The end goal is to produce a concise bit of policy that will help control CCN processes and clear-up any existing misunderstandings.
Of course, the responses will be compiled anonymously and considered as an aggregate. Responses can be sent to kjanssen@montana.edu. If they are sent before Thursday, I’ll have a better idea of what the data folks are up against and we can briefly discuss it. If responses are sent after Thursday, I’ll figure out a way to continue the conversation via email or phone.
