Re: Accreditation agencies

Yes.  California splits their regional accreditation into two agency which includes this accreditation body specifically designated for 2 year colleges.  It is an offshoot of WASC.

Hello,

Does anyone award transfer credit for schools who are accredited by ACCJC- the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges? It appears they are part of WASC.

Re: Spring 2019 MACRAO Meeting

Dear MACRAO Membership,

Please find the attached minutes from our meeting at Flathead Valley Community College.  Thank you to everyone who organized/attended/presented and helped make our meeting productive. It was a great conference (and the snacks were exceptional)!

Member participation and engagement make for the best meetings, please give us some feedback so can make our upcoming spring meeting one of the best yet.  We've received a grant from OCHE and have some flexibility to use this money to increase the participation and effectiveness of our conference.

We would like to know:

  • Which presentations or topics of conversation would you find most valuable?
  • Would you like to see us bring in a speaker?  If so, do you have a specific topic or presenter you recommend?
  • If we waived the conference registration fee, would you be more likely to attend?
  • What are other barriers that prevent you from attending and how could we help remove them?
  • Finally, if we could pay for or subsidize the cost of your hotel, would you be more likely to attend?

Please get back to me by 12/01/2018 with any feedback so the MACRAO leadership can incorporate your suggestions into our spring planning.

Hi all,

I received an inquiry from someone regarding tuition reciprocity with North Dakota.  I’ve not run into this before, so I wanted to check with you all.

Section H. 1. (d) states “An individual domiciled in a state other than Montana who derives more than 50% of family income, as reported or required to be reported under the United States tax laws, from full-time employment in a permanent job in Montana and who pays all required Montana taxes on Montana derived income and the spouse and dependent children of such individual; provided the state of domicile provides reciprocal treatment for Montana residents.”

Does North Dakota provide reciprocal treatment?  Is anyone aware of any other states that do so.

Thanks!

Banner Job Submissions

Good afternoon,

I hope this message finds you all well. My sincere apologies that the University of Providence has been absent for much of MACRAO in the past year. We hope to turn that around quite soon.

We are in the middle of a THIRTY-FIVE (35) point installation process with pretty much every piece of software offered by Ellucian. It’s been a fun year and the next year is sure to be equally as much fun.

This being said, we are working with the Automic functionality next week to automate Banner Job Submissions.
  • Do any of you currently have jobs set up to run automatically?
  • If so, which jobs and for what purpose?
  • Are there jobs that you would like to run that you aren’t currently able to run?

Every job submission that we currently run, we do so manually based on the need and the time of year.

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Sincerely,
Brittany

Hello,

Please see the attached, proposed changes to the Montana Residency Policy.  The BOR will be introduced to this in two week but will not take action until January.  It would be best to have any feedback received by Helen and Viv prior to the BOR meeting on the 15th if at all possible.  I am happy to compile comments and submit them, or you can reach out to your campus legal counsel, or you can contact Helen and Viv directly.

Please try to give this some attention next week.

As I stated, action wont be taken until January but if there are simply changes or concerns it would be good to get them on record sooner rather than later.

Thanks

We list their degree as non-degree seeking (no CIPC) and then the major as Dual Enrollment (No CIPC).  To date we haven't had to list a CIPC for it.  Maybe however it will be caught in the next report, we didn't have any in the first report of the fall semester.

I think if we get that flag, I will default to the general studies CIPC 24.0102.

Since we're on the subject of Clearinghouse, I'm also curious as to what CIP code (if any) colleges are you using to report non degree and running start students?  We haven't had a problem up until this last report, and now all of our ND and RS students are being rejected.  Ouch!

Happy Friday everyone.

DCC attempts to get the SSN three times (application, email, and mail). We were told in a routine audit that we needed to document three attempts.

Thanks,

For those submitting reports to the clearinghouse:

What do you do or say to people who have opted not to give their social security number to the institution?  Do you just give them the paper copy of verification?  Do you send an email or communication at the beginning of each term to tell them without their SS# they won't be submitted?  I always go back to it's the students right (by law) to provide their SS# for records.  However the catch 22 is if they don't provide it, it won't be match up with clearinghouse or NSLDS.

Hoping someone has a process or loop hole J
