Subject: Hello from your new President!

Hello MACRAO!

It is my pleasure to introduce myself to our MACRAO membership as this year's president. I am glad to serve and I am very excited for what this year has in store.

A quick introduction… My name is Kristi Peterson and I have been the Director of Admissions and Recruitment at MSU-Northern for the past three years. Originally from Malta, Montana, it has been fun to be back up on the Hi-Line revisiting my old stomping grounds. Organizations like  MACRAO and MPSEOC have been integral in helping me understand the climate of higher education in Montana and introducing me to a network of colleagues who work together to serve our students. During an inspired moment at the 2015 Spring MACRAO meeting, I think I may have nominated myself to be a MACRAO officer (no joke). And here I am!

I'd like to thank Montana Tech and Leslie Dickerson for hosting our meeting last week in Butte, America. As always, it was fun to reconnect with everyone and drill down on the topics that are priorities for most, if not all of us. As I walked out of the meeting, a little birdie (Jerri) talked to me about a few opportunities we have to enhance our meetings for fall and spring. Very Exciting! So, hold on to your hats, folks! Things are going to ramp up for MACRAO!

With that, I embark on the next 12 months feeling encouraged by and hopeful for the many things we can achieve in 2016-2017. Thank you for the opportunity!

All My Best…

Kristi

I am wondering who your National Student Clearinghouse reporters are?  Would anyone be interested in comparing notes and possibly forming a focus group to make sure 1) each campus feels adequately supported, and 2) create a better understanding of the enrollment/degree reporting process.

I’m the primary NSC reporter for Western campus related to enrollment and our graduation advisor Travis Gibson does the reports for degree submission.

Absolutely on board with forming this focus group we’ve been hitting some issues that I need to dig into the manuals to resolve but if anyone has already dealt with them it would be great to hear the experience.

Re: MACRAO question on signature on transcripts

We're the same in Bozeman, using FormFusion to print the signature on our Banner transcripts. For our printed preBanner transcripts we stamp the signature and use the raised seal. For our electronic PreBanner transcripts, we include a transcript key that has the signature and printed seal on the key and the 'raised seal not required' blurb since they are different formats and we have not yet made a stamp for our PDF transcripts.

Re: MACRAO question on signature on transcripts

Western uses a signature stamp.

Pro-makes it much easier on both the registrar and staff who have to use the registrar's signature for office processes (i.e. transcripts)

Con- make sure the staff using the stamp understand how and when it should be used and keep the stamp is locked away if it is not in use (i.e. our front office administrative staff keeps the signature stamp with the transcript supplies locked in the vault except for when it is in use).

During my first month at Western I didn't have the stamp yet.  In order to handle official transcripts and other document, we set check ins during the day where I signed any documentation that required my signature.  The main concern for developing this short term process was making sure transcripts made it out of the office in a timely manner when I might not be available every time one needed to be signed.  The two check in times for signing documents allows transcripts to be released in a timely manner for the student.

Choice Act & Veteran's as MT Residents for Tuition/Fees

Good afternoon,

As requested at the MACRAO meeting last week, please find the form & process that GFC MSU is using for helping to track Veterans using the Choice Act.  Financial Aid in GF is monitoring the students as well as requesting the required documents.

Financial aid keeps a copy of the Choice Act residency forms that are sent to the Registrar’s Office and the Fin Aid Veterans Coordinator periodically checks students to see if still enrolled.    If a student re-enrolls after an absence we would do a new request, if the student still meet the Choice Act eligibility criteria and had not otherwise established residency.

For tracking that in Banner – in SGASTDN, Activities tab -- codes for Veteran’s Choice Act Begin (VCAB) and Veteran’s Choice End (VCAE).

Below is Julie’s contact information if you have additional questions about the process in GF.  ~d

Good day to you,

How are you doing today? I dispatched this letter to you few days ago with no response, and I am sending it again to you again. Its pertinent you confirm your willingness to accept or reject my proposal as this will enable me stop further contact.

I`m John Komla, the Auditing and Accounting Manager with a bank in Ghana. I`m contacting you in the high opinion on a business at hand that will privilege both of us an opportunity for lifetime favor.
There is the sum of $9,500,000.00 (Nine Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars) which was unaccounted for as a result of an overdraft from foreign contracts. I have placed this funds on in a nastro-vastro account Account with no beneficiary. As the Auditing and Accounting Manager,it is my duty to send financial report to our Regional Head Quarters. However, I need your honest assistance and cooperation so I can use my position in the office to channel these funds in your name legally as beneficiary for cash payment and you take 50% as remuneration for your assistance.

If you are interested contact me only at my email with your name, Address and phone number at: an40637@gmail.com

Thanks,

Mr.John Komla

As you know, the new FAFSA window opens in October of 2016 which will alter how each of us deliver our admissions and new students services programs.  If we can work together as a state, we will be able to help each other work through this transition to better help students and families.  MSCA, GEAR UP, Student Assistance Foundation and the Montana Post Secondary Educational Opportunties Council (MPSEOC | Montana Colleges – along with MUS, MACRAO, MASFAA) are working together collaboratively to try and make the transition as seamless as possible.

To help us all move forward and start the dialogue, please take the following short survey by April 6.

·       Don't let your campus's voice not be heard.  Your feedback is invaluable to the entire state.  Please take a few minutes to complete the following survey:
