Re: AACRAO Taskforce - disciplinary notations on transcripts

As another note – we may be able to follow AACRAO guidelines AND the MCA contingent on our interpretation of “information of an academic nature.”  AACRAO makes a decent point that  “The transcript historically has been viewed, first and foremost, as an academic document or record. A student’s standing that impacts eligibility to continuously enroll at an institution affects academic progress and, as such, is deemed transcript-appropriate.”

So the question is, is the academic notation (of suspension or probation) that stems from a pattern of behavior a “disciplinary record” or is it “academic in nature.”  I think it is both – which leaves room for interpretation.

I am thinking we should get our individual campuses preferences and legal counsel advice (prior to our meeting) and then adopt some sort of common approach (or document our varied approaches) at our next meeting.

Thanks All

Subject: AACRAO Taskforce - disciplinary notations on transcripts

Good evening,

This came through email today from AACRAO.  I believe that the state of MT has specific rules here, and as an organization we may want to touch bases with legal counsel for some current guidance (perhaps a session at the fall meeting?) – but, the document at the link is likely worth your time.  [Hopefully you can open it].
