Re: International Certifications

Hi Kerri,

We learned from the Secretary of State’s office that UM-Missoula processes Apostilles more often than most other institutions.  I’ll be processing one next week and I’m happy to present on this topic at an upcoming MACRAO event.

We use an Apostille stamp with the following content; areas in parenthesis are blank/to be filled in with ink by the person signing the Apostille (typically the Registrar):

“On (date), I undersigned, do hereby certify that this is a true and original (diploma, transcript, etc.) issue by the University of Montana.”  Signed Maria Mangold, Registrar (includes ink signature and printed name).

Best regards,

Maria

Subject: International Certifications

Good morning and Happy Friday,

We are seeing an increase in requests for international certifications for our graduates including Apostille requests.  The most recent one is a nurse trying to get licensure in another country and they are requesting a university stamp, vs our seal, on certifying documents (enrollment verifications not transcripts).

We have traditionally used our seal to emboss documents and it has not been an issue and then we darken with a pencil when necessary.

I am wondering what other offices are doing with these requests if you are seeing them? Do you only use a seal? Do you have a stamp?

If you have both, do you have a process or policy for when you use one vs. the other or both on documents?

Thanks so much!

Kerri

Micro credentials

Good afternoon!

I am wondering how other institutions are handling micro credentials? How will you be tracking and are you noting the student earned the micro credentials?

Any information is greatly appreciated!
