Good morning, MACRAO –
Cheri articulated perfectly, the current model for UP as well.
We accept the credits given they are ACE recommended; however, most come in as elective credit only (departments review and determine transferability of credits applied within the major, minor, or concentration).
We see a small number of Straighterline transcripts each year; typically for the student who needs credit quickly.
Thank you,
Brittany

Good morning.
Yes – I am familiar. At MSUB, our institutional policy is to accept for credit ACE recommendations for credit. However, departments have purview over how those credits are applied to degree programs and/or equivalencies.
Straighterline was quite popular for a spell with students who needed “quick” and relatively inexpensive credits. Departments initially approved, but after some research and conversation on campus a few years back, we officially accept for elective credits only.
There are a few similar entities appearing… Credly. Sophia.

Has anyone heard of Straighterline? I have a student wanting to transfer in courses from there. Bismarck State College accepts a select number of courses. They are ACE approved. Any direction or advice will help.
Thanks,
