The Spring MACRAO Meeting starts tomorrow. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

 

This is the last info email you will receive for the meeting. It includes parking instructions, lodging info, registration info, and the agenda for the meeting. You will also find a campus map and your parking pass attached.

Parking Instructions:

 

·         You will come to campus on Park St.  You will pass the Student Union building on your left and continue down the hill toward our HPER Complex (gym at the bottom of the hill).  Take a left at the HPER and park in the fenced lot east of that building.

 

·         We are meeting in the Student Union building in the Copper Lounge which is upstairs.  I’m afraid that this means you will have to walk back up the hill from your parking spot so be prepared!

 

·         Attached is a parking pass.  Just print this and place it on your dash.

MACRAO Business meeting

Just a reminder that during the business meeting at MACRAO we will need to select a new President Elect; select a location for the Fall meeting; and potentially some dates for the meeting. 

 

If you are aware of some events that are already on the calendar in October/November please bring them to the meeting so we can narrow down some dates for the fall meeting.

If you or know someone who wants to be part of the MACRAO leadership team bring the name for nomination of President-elect.

Update on MACRAO website

For those that have gone to MACRAOonline.org to register for MACRAO and found the “GoDaddy” website, our domain name is currently up for renewal.  We are currently working on tracking down the user ID and Password for logging in and renewing the domain name.  (If anyone happens to know it, please contact Leslie Dickerson at Tech).

Consider being part of MACRAO leadership for 2016-17

HI everyone!

 

Just as a reminder at our Spring business meeting (takes place at the end of the MACRAO meeting) we will need to elect a new President-Elect aka as Vice President (according to the Bylaws).  The President-Elect is a three year term which starts July 2016.  For those who are interested in the details, I’ve attached the MACRAO bylaws and Article IV and V discuss the roles of MACRAO leadership.  However as a general summary responsibilities include:

 

·       During the first year, they serve as President-Elect and help plan and organize the meeting. 

·       In the second year, they serve as President and run the Fall/Spring meetings as well as respond to issues/questions effecting MACRAO as a whole; serving on and/or leading workgroups as needed to address MACRAO issues.  They (or there designee) may represent the MACRAO group at an annual regional or national conferences they attend (see bylaws for more specifics)

·       In the third year, the position transitions to Immediate Past President who serves as an advisor to the MACRAO leadership team.

 

 

As of July 1, 2016 your 2016-17 MACRAO Leadership Team will be

President-Elect: To be elected

Past-President: Charity Walters

Treasurer: Leslie Dickerson

 

Make sure to consider nominations as we get ready for our spring elections (and yes you can nominate yourself!)  We will call for nominations and an election during the business portion of the spring meeting.

AACRAO Nugget:  What it is about…

 

The ACCRAO nugget does not have to be just about AACRAO….it can be an information item or knowledge you gained from any area (conference, reading, meetings, a trick you learned in Banner/Student Information Systems.) that might help the MACRAO group as a whole.  Nothing is too small to share, we are just looking for a minute or three updates.  You’d be amazed at what we often assume is common knowledge that really is not known.

 

So be on the lookout for that “gold nugget” of knowledge you gained this year and share it at MACRAO!

After End of Term processes have been completed, I run SFRRGAM (in Banner).  For any students that have not passed pre-requisites, I email the student and their advisor that the pre-requisite(s) have not been passed and that they will be removed from the course.  I then remove the student from the applicable course.

We also run list for students who fail their pre-req. We notifying them that they need to drop the course and then we usually give them at least a two week window before the terms start to drop/swap the affected course. If they do not drop it voluntarily, we drop them from the course before the next term starts.
