Subject: Announcement of new UM Registrar
To the Campus Community:
I am pleased to announce that Joe Hickman has agreed to serve as the Registrar at the University of Montana. Joe has been Interim Registrar for a year and a half and he has brought new energy, organization, and ideas to the Registrar's Office as well as being an active participant in process reform. We are fortunate to have him join us permanently. I expect that his progressive engagement in advancing the interests of the students and faculty at UM will continue. Joe came to UM from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks in 2011 to lead our TRiO programs. He became Interim Registrar at UM in 2013 upon the retirement of Ed Johnson.
The search committee, under the leadership of Beckie Christiaens, did a wonderful job in delivering qualified candidates for the position. I thank them very much for their outstanding work.
