Hello Colleagues –

 

Attached is the current agenda with a rather full slate of speakers and topics for our Fall Meeting in Bozeman coming up on October 10th and 11th.

 

We will be beginning a little earlier than has been our norm on Thursday, and Bozeman/MACRAO have agreed to provide lunch on day 1 so you shouldn’t have to adjust your travel too much.

 

Rest assured, there will also be breaks, and refreshments, but it seemed easier to just let those ‘occur’ on the schedule our hosts arrange, than to put them into the agenda specifically.

 

·         I will be sending this, along with directions out to all of our speakers (who, at this time, will be IN PERSON) so if you see any major errors or have questions, please do feel free to ask in advance.

 

·         Please remember you can register online through the MACRAO web site – it’s pretty easy!!

 

·         Please take a moment to forward to the colleagues you work most closely with, and anyone new to the organization who may not be already on the list.

MACRAO 2013 - 9.27.13

The online registration/fee payment is under the Membership Secure Area.  The password is treasurestate.

 

There is now also the ability to pay your dues online as well.  For those of you that already signed up for the meeting, there’s a separate button for you to pay your dues.  For those of you that haven’t already signed up for the meeting, you can pay for the meeting and your annual dues at the same time.

I’m the new Registrar here at Carroll College (Cathy Day has moved into the Associate Academic Dean role) – I look forward to meeting many of you at the fall meeting! In the meantime, I’m hoping to get some help with a question about credit by examination.

 

Do any of you have experience with accepting credit from BYU’s foreign language testing service? Apparently, the online tests can be proctored on your local campus, and it seems they are graded on a pass/fail basis. More information is available here: http://flats.byu.edu/flatsinfo.php and http://flats.byu.edu/langlist.php?x=6. This option appears to be very similar to CLEP or a credit by challenge exam, except that BYU is the one determining whether it’s a pass or a fail, rather than providing a raw score… I think? If you have any further insight, please do share!

BYU Foreign Language Testing

MACRAO Colleagues,

I am wondering if any of you are on this committee (I assume it would be someone from a 2 year campus) who could shed some light on what is coming ?
